STRANGER SINGS! THE PARODY MUSICAL

We invite you to the outrageously camp, off-Broadway comedy hit ‘STRANGER SINGS! THE PARODY MUSICAL!’, a hilarious, irreverent spin on the Netflix phenomenon ‘Stranger Things’ and winner of seven Broadway World Awards including ‘Best New Musical’. With season 5 marking the end of era, Epiphany Arts are excited to relive the magic and pump up the volume on your favourite Hawkins characters in all their 80s glory at Darling Quarter Theatre February as part of the Mardi Gras Plus Festival.

With an original book by Jonathan Hogue and at least a dozen Broadway references to musicals as diverse as Hadestown, Dear Evan Hansen and Mean Girls, Stranger Sings! will transport you to a simpler time when shoulder pads could double as a floatation device, parenting was optional, rocking a mullet was essential and being kidnapped by a multi-dimensional creature was, well, on you.

Led by the creative team of Annie Macarthur (Director/Co-Producer), Mitchell Brown (Musical Director), Anna Jaques (Choreographer) and Peter Mitchell (Co-Producer/Art Director), bringing one of the most celebrated Netflix TV series to the stage has been an exciting challenge, but one they were well prepared for with their passion for retro pop culture and hype around their festival season of ‘Stranger Sings!’ at the Sydney Fringe off Broadway hub. Assembling a wildly talented cast of actual teenagers and young adults who are fans of Stranger Things was essential, as they lovingly send up the most iconic Hawkins characters with a youthful, boundless energy that’s hilariously well observed and infectious.

So if you’re a Stranger Things fan or just a lover of musical theatre or comedy, it’s time to grab your neon spandex, dust off your KISS wigs and join Will, Mike, Eleven, Dustin, Lucas and the whole Hawkins gang for a DnD campaign that will involve Russian spies, pubescent angst, fast-paced scenes, wickedly funny characterisations, shaggy perms, convoluted love triangles, cheap effects and even some justice for everyone’s favourite, forgotten ginger - Barb Holland.

Things are about to get very strange around here... very strange indeed
